President’s Corner
Welcome to a new season of wrestling from the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association.
The SDWCA has a long history of creating opportunities for South Dakota youth.
Our goal is to have our wrestlers be successful on the mat and in life. We want to create an atmosphere that allows a setting where sportsmanship can flourish for competitors, spectators, parents and coaches. As adults it is our duty to demonstrate sportsmanship as a model for our youth. Life lessons are learned in sport; in wrestling this is certainly true. Let’s work together ensure that all our wrestlers have a great experience.
Wrestling in our opinion is our greatest sport; it has been around for thousands of years. Wrestlers form life long friendships because of the 1 on 1 competition. Many wrestlers compete against each other for years. Wrestling teaches self reliance, self discipline and responsibility. Wrestlers, parents and coaches make huge sacrifices to compete; it is paramount that we join together to provide a great experience for our kids.
Lets all keep in mind why we are involved in this worthy effort; it is for kids and there needs not ours.
We may not always agree on all things in youth wrestling but lets all unite to do our best for wrestling and wrestlers.
In Wrestling;
Marc Murren
SDWCA President
