This year again, South Dakota will be taking a team of Freshman and Sophomores to the Freshman Sophomore Nationals held at SIUE in Edwardsville, IL.  This is open to all Freshman and Sophomores who did not place at the state level in high school and will not turn 17 before Feb. 25, 2012.

We will leave for this event Friday morning March 23 from LEGENDS OF GOLD TRAINING CENTER, BERESFORD, SD.  We weigh in that evening.  Wrestling begins on Sat., March 24^th and we will be done that day.  We will come home then on Sunday March 25^th.   I will send out the time and place we will be leaving as we get closer to the date.   High School weight classes plus a 101 pound class.

You will also get a 3 pound weight allowance.   The cost of this trip is $230- nonrefundable.  This includes: transportation, coaching, hotel room, and team SD t-shirt and shorts.  You will need your own singlet and money for meals. Registration is $45.00 and can be done at trackwrestling.com.  You will also need an AAU card.  We will take the first 40 athletes who gets their money and paperwork in.  Last year was the first year and it was an excellent event.  All the SD wrestlers got 3-5 matches, some more.  This is an excellent opportunity to compete against kids your own age from other states.  Due Date will be March 10.   Please fill out the attached sheets and send them and your check to:

The National AAU has started a very unique event called the Frosh/Soph Nationals.  This event is for any freshman or sophomore who DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE STATE HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT.

This event has been a huge success in Illinois and they have decided to open the door to the nation.  Here is an event that will be specifically for a group who does not have any type of event anywhere for them to go and compete against their peers from around the country.  It is viewed as a great stepping stone on the path to becoming a state qualifier/placer.  TEAM SD will take one bus.

The first 40 to apply will be accepted.  The event will be held on April 1/2/3.  Our bus will leave from the Flying J truck stop in Sioux Falls at 7am on April 1st.  We will return on the 3rd when wrestling is done.  We have rooms reserved at the Hilton Springfield.  The cost for this trip is $275.  You must register for the event on line.  For this fee you will get bussing, coaches, room, uniform.  You will be responsible for your own meals.

This information is in regards to being a member of team SD for the World Championships in Spearfish, SD March 18^th, 19^th and 20^th.

Our origination spot will be the Flying J truck stop in Sioux Falls at 9am on March 18^th.  We will arrange to make stops across the state per your request.  Simply make a note on your Team SD Info Sheet where you would like to be picked up along the interstate.  We will return home on the morning of the 20^th and make similar stops if needed.  We will be staying at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Spearfish.

The busses will be filled on a first come first served basis.  All applications must be received by me by March 1^st.  To be on the trip you must fill out the attached sheets and send them along with $250(no refunds) to me (address below).  Make check to Bob Johnson – FWC.  For this you will receive transportation, lodging, uniform package, coaching, and the coaches will have some food and drink available – you will be responsible for all other meals.

You must also go to www.blackhillsnationals.com and print off an entry form.  Fill this out and include a check made out to black hills nationals for $35.

Remember to bring your AAU card and proof of age – your age group is determined by how old you are on the 19^th of March.

This is for Team SD – Middle School Duals

We are taking two teams composed of  20 6/7/8 graders – You cannot turn 16 in 2011.  We fill the teams first come, first served.  The weights are: 75/80/85/90/95/100/105/110/115/120/125/130/135/140/145/152/160/171/189/HWT (250 Max) – No alternates unless requested.
The cost is $350 – This includes team singlet, shirt, shorts, back pack, entry, housing, transportation and coaching.  You will be responsible for your own meals.

We will have a practice in Brookings HS at 9am on the 8th of April.  We will wrestle off to be on Team Blue or Red.  You must be within two pounds for the challenge match. We will then leave for Des Moines.  We will return to Brookings on April 19th whent the tourney is done.
